Orchard Hay

Orchard grass is a highly palatable grass hay with a high nutrient content. It is higher in protein at 10-12% than Timothy, but contains roughly the same levels of calcium and phosphorus. Orchard has a higher fiber digestibility compared to Timothy, and the high nutrient intake translates into potentially less grain supplementing. Coastal Bermuda Grass

Coastal Bermudagrass has been produced in the Southeast US for many years and serves as a lower-cost alternative to orchardgrass and other grasses. It is perennial and is one of the first domesticated forages. It is more nutrient-dense than most grasses when harvested at the same stage of maturity, and typically contains more digestible energy, more crude protein and calcium, and fewer nonstructural carbohydrates ... .

Timothy hay is a very popular source for roughage and fiber, with a relatively low protein and high fiber content. Timothy is considered a grass hay and can be fed regularly to satisfy appetite without excess calories and protein. It has very little stem and is wide, leafy, soft and pliable. Protein levels on Timothy are typically in the 6-7.0% range, low fat and 30.0%+ fiber....
